"Either restart your machine, or log out and in again, to complete the installation."

Are you shitting me? What is this, Windows? Log out or restart to finish installing an app?

I want to install one application that's only available as a snap. In order to do so, I have to install snapd so now I have an extra process running on my machine. Plus, this application apparently has dependencies so now I'm installing four other snaps just to get the one application I want to use. And I have a total of five loopback devices mounted now. Just to use one fucking app.

Whoever thought snapd was a great idea should be slapped. This is a horrible package manager.

The dollar sign still goes in front of the number, right? I didn't miss some memo in the 30+ years since I've been in school?

Why are people putting it behind the number?

You'd think the CEO of RedHat would have the foresight to buy a real microphone before presenting his keynote from his home.

It seems there are a lot of folks in the fediverse who play TTRPGs. So, how about some TTRPG Intros?

I play:
* D&D (most editions)
* Carbon 2185
* Star Trek Adventures
* Call of Cthlulu
* Pathfinder
* Starfinder
* Castles & Crusades
* Dungeon Crawl Classics
* Clockwork Dominion
* Shadowrun
* Power Outage

I GM:
* Castles & Crusades
* D&D (most editions)
* Pathfinder
* Power Outage

I'm more old school. I don't usually do maps or miniatures. I'm also not into the "theatrical" gaming that is common on YouTube or Twitch. I prefer a good, old fashioned hack & slash or problem solving game.

Tonight's Castles and Crusades game is going to take @neuromancer to uncomfortable places.

Seems like someone with the title "Senior UNIX Systems Administrator" should know how to disable TLS 1.1 in Apache. Or, at least, be able to Google it.

Man, I'm like a 5 year old tonight. I'm tired, but I refuse to go to sleep.

Hi, I'm JonnyNomad. I'm a geek and a coffee snob.

My days are spent engineering systems and security solutions for the cloud. My nights are spend doing, well, "other things."

I have too many hobbies:
* new tech
* old tech
* mechanical keyboards
* ttrpgs
* motorcycles
* photography
* gardening
and about a hundred other things.

I swear a lot.

I don't drink (anymore) but I'll often make references to alcohol. This may be a trigger to friends of Bill W. I apologize in advance.

I am high risk for several medical conditions due to lifestyle choices when I was younger. I don't regret those choices.

My side hustle is fighting spam. My best friend and I run a block list server and many honeypots to catch and block spammers.

I have opinions and I'm not afraid to share them.

There you go. Me, in a nutshell, more or less.

That thing where you spend weeks interviewing with various organizations, then they all go silent.

And then Friday at 4:30pm, they all email you with offers.

Gonna be a busy weekend figuring out where the new $daygig is.

I get that migrating away from Majordomo is a pain in the ass, but at least try to fucking maintain it. Looking at you, kernel.org.

I don't know what the fad is on the socials about posting pics of when people were 20. When I was 20, cameras hadn't been invented yet.

Up late reminiscing about writing device drivers for mini computers in the 80s.

While the US has enjoyed the legalization of certain substances, I don't think anyone has even thought about legalizing whatever Trump is on yet.

So, of course, I start doing something equally constructive, like, going through back issues of Dr. Dobb's Journal.

Well, shit. I guess I should probably start on my taxes.
